The third part of our vision statement is Impact. We desire to impact our community and world by serving others in the name of Jesus Christ.
We partner with Nazarene Missions International, our denominational missions organization, with local agencies and other churches to serve the Kirkland area. As Christ’s followers we have the joyful privilege of participating with Him in bringing hope to all His people.
A GLOCAL (global + local) CONGREGATION
As a local congregation – not just a global church – we are actively engaged in providing opportunities for our people to participate in ministry outside our church walls. Here are some areas we are impacting as a church:
Lakeview Elementary School (Kirkland, WA)
School Supplies:
Every year there are kids that begin the school year without supplies. We help bridge that gap by providing boxes of school supplies for the students.
Teachers Appreciation Luncheons:
We know a school is only as good as its teachers so we take time to appreciate and support the teachers with luncheons and physical help.
Kirkland Community Events
Monthly Hygiene Bank:
In the winter of 2014 we started a monthly Hygiene Bank where families of need can come and get everything from laundry soap, tooth paste, cleaning supplies, and other hygiene needs that food stamps or other help programs do not supply.
Community Egg Hunt:
We partner with Kiwanis and Kirkland Parks Department to provide this free event to the community on Easter Sunday.
Kirkland Tree Lighting:
We partner with the Kirkland Downtown Association to help create this event that kicks off the holiday season. We have provided bouncy houses, crafts, non-profit opportunities, music groups, and balloon animals.
City Park Clean Up:
We partner with the Kirkland Parks Department and other local churches to clean up our local city parks.
Other Local Impact Projects
Pack n’ Mac:
Back packs full of school supplies and Macaroni and Cheese for kids in need in our community.
Holiday Food Baskets:
boxes of food for families in need in our community. Thanksgiving and Christmas meals with all the trimmings.
Holiday Gifts:
At Christmas we provide assistance, food and gifts for families that would otherwise go without.
Food Pantry:
This informal food bank acts as a bridge for people who need a helping hand. with food.
Tent City:
Tent City is a temporary encampment of homeless adults that moves to a different location on the Eastside approximately every 90 days. Life Community provides a hot meal to the 100 residents of Tent City monthly.
Global Projects
Haiti:
Haiti has been the focus of Life Community’s global impact since 2009. We’ve worked alongside the Haitian people to built 2 church/community centers , served in an orphanage in Port-au-Prince, conducted teeth brushing clinics, ran Neighborhood Clubs and helped with Compassionate Ministries projects. We will be returning to Moustique, Haiti in April 2013 to build a school.
Honduras:
We have added Honduras to our global impact focus. Again, working alongside Honduran people, we have begun to partner with a church and school in Puerto Cortes to help build the church and serve the people and children of the area with Compassionate Ministry projects.
But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and truth.” -1 John 3:17-18
